Tracing Paces are a creative dance company that explore the connections between ‘people’ and ‘place’. We split our time between developing our research practice and performances and also on our outreach projects, supporting communities, venues and spaces with dance and art workshops. Our projects and workshops are inherently accessible with improvisation at their core, enabling group members opportunities to follow their creativity with freedom.
Our work enables participants to experience the spaces around them in new ways. Using our surroundings as inspiration we challenge the status quo and inject creativity to public and community spaces. We believe understanding and connecting to our environment is important in our fight against the climate crisis and can help us connect as a community to see and do better.
Our biggest project, developed in 2019, took place at Grow Tottenham. Here we spent 4 months collaborating and working through the weather and the changing landscape to provide a community performance and workshop that reflected the environment at Grow Tottenham. As Tottenham faces huge development plans, the value of spaces such as Grow Tottenham are hugely important to its communities and artists, and creating connection and joy to nature in an urban landscape.
